A Poem :: A Glance that Sparks
The crowd, a river I must stem,
Each face a fleeting, fading gem.
Then eyes like midnight meet my own,
A spark, a world in shadow shown.
His form, a statue carved in haste,
By some old master's hand now traced.
My footsteps falter, start to turn;
Within, a strange, new warmth does burn.
A glance behind, a hope, a prayer,
And mirrored wonder fills the air.
He turns, our eyes a bridge between,
Two strangers in an altered scene.
Does his heart leap as quick as mine?
Does he, like me, search for a sign?
The crowd recedes, the world grows still,
Two souls entwined, if fate should will.
One step, then two, our paths converge,
A future poised on question's verge.
The words may halt, the voice may fail,
But in this gaze, a tale sets sail.
