A Poem :: Broken Vows, Unkept Forever
"Forever," he swore, a promise in the air,
But time revealed a truth I couldn't bear.
His hand in mine, his eyes where stars would gleam,
My foolish heart believed in love's sweet dream.
My "forever" held a lifetime at its core,
Of boundless love and passions to explore.
Seasons changed, and with it, so did he,
His "forever" turned to dust for all to see.
With whispers lost and promises grown cold,
His fleeting word, a tale too quickly told.
My "forever" sought a love both deep and true,
His "forever" was a wind that swiftly blew.
And so, I learn where broken fragments lie,
His fleeting love, a word beneath the sky.
Though promises may shatter, still I rise,
A stronger heart where my "forever" lies.
