A Poem :: Knight's Unrequited Love
Dragon's lair, a scene I know too well,
My steed and I, another damsel's yell.
A hero's heart, in shining armor clad,
But marriage bells, for me, have never had.
The beast subdued, the princess freed at last,
Tears in her eyes, a fleeting, grateful glance.
"My savior brave!" she cries, with joyous sigh,
Love's spark unseen, behind her thankful eye.
Back to the court, the cheers, a hollow ring,
Another quest, another lonely king.
Is this the path, for one who fights and saves?
A hero's heart, forever built for graves?
But hope remains, a flicker in the night,
Someday a love, that sees beyond the fight.
Till then, I ride, for glory and for need,
A hidden love, a valiant, lonely deed.
