Battlefield
Battlefield
In a once quiet and peaceful evening
Camouflaged men came marching
Across the woods, under the moonlight
Towards a furious, incessant fight.
Scattered gleam of red laser lights
Oust a shine of silver moonlight.
Instead of hearing the crickets' singing
Were those machine guns roaring.
Soldiers struggled behind the strife
Crawled bravely to save a life.
Bruised, maimed, wounded, exhausted
On piteous faces, blood ceaselessly shed.
Verdant plains and green fields before
Clotted red were filled on the floor.
Innocent, brave, heroic blood spilled
Overflowed in that battlefield.
