The Last Ticket
Here I am in front of the ticket stand
I take a deep breath, count the dimes, and
I wonder why today there is so much demand.
Because only one ticket is left on hand.
"Today is the day to draw the grand prize"
Said the merchant who tries to be wise.
But wait! My money will not suffice!
I lack a cent. What an utter surprise!
I might have dropped it somewhere.
I search for it here and there.
Unfortunately, it's nowhere to be found.
It might have fallen into the cracks in the ground.
I've already gambled most of my money on today's cricket.
Sadly, I lost and left with a few dimes in my pocket.
But I can feel my luck on this one last ticket.
And so I thought of selling my mother's gifted locket.
