Playful or Mischievous.
Animals are smarter than we think. That being said, here's my experience.
My Pom/Chi--(Pomeranian/Chihuahua) is so sweet and innocent. You can't help but love her. She greets everyone she can, with a wagging tail, and smiling face.
Maybe she senses they need a little love and attention. On the other hand, maybe she's up to mischief. It's really hard to tell.
Periodically, she takes me outside. This time it's wet, chilly, and it's potty time before bedtime.
I open the door, she leaped(?) from the front step, and lands on the pathway. Her body stiffens, her ears are forward, She looks first one way, then another. Nobody and nothing alive is out there it seems.
Within seconds, she darts back inside, pushes the door closed, and leaves me out there. Alone in the dak.
Pathetic.
I noticed movement at the front window. Aha! She had climbed up on the furniture. She watches me through the glass, as if waiting for "me" to go potty.
I wait a few minutes, grab the doorknob and give it a twist and shove.
Unfortunately it seems to be stuck.
I wonder how long before somebody finds me drenched and shivering outside, wearing not much more than my bathrobe, socks, and my perfume.
I try to remember what I read in my dust covered forensic pathology textbook. How long after my early denise would rigor mortis set in? That would be messy, if not embarrassing.
Nah, I'll be okay.
I rang the doorbell. I looked at it again. Someone had cut away the area that you push. Surely, it still works.
Nothing. I try again. Still nothing. Now what? If I tap or bang on the door now, my neighbors will hate me as the sound vibrates through the whole building.
I can't even get in my car without a key, so waiting inside it isn't possible. I try the doorknob again. Nope, not working.
I push the doorbell several times and noticed that sporadically it rings. Yes!!!!
Soon, my son heard it and opened the door.
"We need to get that fixed," he said.
There my dog is smiling (or snickering) and looking cute, wagging her tail like I'd been gone for months.
But, hey, she is cute and loveable, I forgive her, regardless. She awaits and we both soon migrate to my room and snuggle beneath the sheets of my bed.
P.S. I originally created this story for my port, yet I ran out of space. I'm only allowed 250 items right now. |
