Absurd Socks
Written for "Invalid Item" , prompts (two tonight), National Absurdity Day and Old Socks Day! Why write for two prompts tonight? I was going to write about Absurdity Day, but then I seen Old Socks Day and thought, "How absurd to set aside a day for old socks. I started thinking about my old socks, and how they are no longer comfortable (if wearing socks is ever comfortable). I don't like wearing socks, or shoes, but new, soft, and cushy socks feel a lot better than old, worn out, and thin socks. Not to mention the old socks often get a hole in the front so one toe is always trying to escape. I've decided that old socks serve only one purpose, they make nice rags (if they are not overly worn) to use in the garage; they work nice to slip over one hand for cleaning grimy and dirty parts. Anyway, I digress. I looked up National Old Socks Day and seen it was a misprint by Andre who likely had been guzzling nipping banana rum all day. It's actually supposed to be Odd Sock Day, which sounds just as absurd. Everyone has at least one odd sock with no mate, usually more. But a day for odd socks? But, it's not about socks it's a day when schools, workplaces, and individuals join together to show that it's okay to be different and to stand up against bullying and discrimination, which isn't absurd at all. Now, seeing how I tend to write some absurd things from time to time, I liked the idea of National Absurdity Day; it's kind of like having a day dedicated to me. You may think that sounds absurd, ad that's just my point. A proud member of "Invalid Item" "Reading soothes the soul, writing sets it free." T.J. |

About The Author
My writing doesn't follow any set genre, it's interdependent of my mood and all that's taking place in life. I'm still finding myself, what I write constitutes the markers along the path of that journey. With time, many things will manifest in my work and perhaps I will pursue one or two genres. For now, it's not, "What type of writing is my passion?"
"Writing is my passion."
