A Poem :: The Gilded Cage
These walls once sang a promise sweet,
Now bind and chafe my restless feet.
My haven turned a gilded cage,
Where colors dull, and spirits rage.
Rooms that whispered gentle lies,
Now echo back with hollow sighs.
The mirror shows a fading spark,
The hearth lies cold, my world grows dark.
My footsteps drag with heavy strain,
My spirit breaks beneath the pain.
The garden droops, a mournful sight,
Reflecting back unbidden night.
I need to break these unseen bars,
To reach beyond familiar scars.
With fearless steps, I'll leave this place,
And find my own untarnished space.
