A Poem :: Home Invaded
The floorboards moan beneath their tread,
Echoes of words left unsaid.
"Ma'am, move aside," a gruff voice rings,
A shiver down my spine it brings.
My home, this space of warmth and dreams,
Now pierced by unfamiliar beams.
Their eyes scan corners, dark and old,
As if my life's tale must be told.
A crime, they say, with voices stern,
My heart begins to twist and churn.
What secrets linger in these walls?
What hidden sin behind me crawls?
I stand aside, a silent form,
A whisper lost within the storm.
Innocence, a fading plea,
As suspicion paints its mark on me.
The search goes on, hour by hour,
Their presence wields a chilling power.
Dust disturbed and shadows stirred,
My haven feels forever blurred.
