Inspiration
I wake up before the sun, tired as always
Why does it seem like the more I sleep,
the less I feel like being awake?
If that's depression, I've had it since childhood.
A dreadful pall of meaninglessness and "why bother?"
My dreams are more interesting than my life!
As the day unfolds, however, a challenge is found
Albeit a trivial escape, still, it sounds like fun…
"Maybe life's not so bad," I think as I get excited about something
For the first time in a long while.
A project, a deadline, a promised reward;
My imagination takes hold and explores the possibilities
And before I know it I'm in the process of crafting and creating
A thing of beauty for others to enjoy
Long after I've disappeared from the world.
