Thirteen
Friday the 13th of September
A long, miserable day
Rainy and hot and murky.
At one in the morning
I wrote the thirteenth entry
In a unidecimal collection;
Conjuring up unmitigated horror
Which tainted my consciousness
For the next twenty-four hours.
I bent to pick up thirteen cents
Off the slimy concrete
And wondered if it was a good thing.
A nervous breakdown—
A scrap with my loved ones—
The rain lasted hours—
Deadlines missed—
Bleh. Just totally bleh.
I whine and I wail and I rant and I vent
Finally, too exhausted to do anything else
I fall asleep.
20 lines, free verse.
Pretty much autobiographical.
Prompt: A rainy day.
At least 12 lines
No form requirements
