Asheville
I hold memories of Asheville dear:
Music in cool, misty mountains,
Autumn leaves falling to tunes of
Songs I never knew
Yet once heard, became a part of me.
Seasons transitioned, enwrapped in melody
Pink rhododendrons blended with poetry,
Lyrics come to life on rocky slopes,
winding scenic roads,
Solitary, foggy valleys of whispered dreams.
Carefree days long faded,
Washed away in torrential downpours—
Devastation unfathomable.
I'll never return to Asheville:
Distance too great—if I did
All I'd find is rubble and ruin.
So I resurrect ghosts of experience
Embalmed in unchanging music
Enlivening memories
If only for a moment.
Words: 100.
