Island
When the day broke, buried in violence
Something made my mind up
I will spend these days as an island
Alone and far away...

Burning, unending push-pull of introversion
Fighting against my deepest need for social connections
Yet the ceaseless strife of everyday life gets in the way.
How am I supposed to be with people when I can't treat them kindly?
I retreat to solitude, where peace and quiet reign
And I can be alone with my own thoughts and everything I enjoy doing.
By myself is my ultimate default mode—but it's unsustainable!
I'm doomed to linger on the shore of an island with bridges aflame.
