Thankful Memories
Thankful memories. The holidays are coming. Dad died a year ago. Dad would come over to my house for my Christmas/Birthday Party. He loved ice cream cake. He liked to relax in the recliner. On New Years Eve, my husband and I would go to my parents house. We had Pizza Hut Pizza and cinnamon rolls. Mom and I would play board games and Dad would play his polka music.
When my son and his wife were here, they would come over to my house for Christmas. So would my parents and my daughter-in-law"s parents. My husband's parents were here as well. We had chicken, scalloped potatoes, chicken salad, noodles, baked beans, deviled eggs, Mac and Cheese and ice cream cake. My daughter-in-law, mother, her mother and me would play Johnny Cash music and dance. I played George Strait Christmas music and Dad liked that. My husband is watching TV with my father and my daughter-in-law's father. They would look at us and shake their heads.
Gift time. Gifts were fun. I would get extra because it was my Birthday December 21. I would get jewelry, Barbie items, tea pots, lighthouse items. My father was happy with money and clothes. My mother. She would get tea sets, flower vases, jewelry. My husband liked clothes and anything tractor related he would get. My son would get Rock and Roll Tapes, clothes, gift cards. His wife. I would get her jewelry, jewelry box, cologne and gift cards. I would let mt husband buy gifts his parents liked. There were other gifts but it hard to remember.
My son moved to Minnesota and then he moved to Oregon. He and his wife work in Psychology.
My husband's parents are gone. My daughter-in-law's father died. My father is gone. My husband, mother and me have Christmas now. It is lonely it seems. We do treasure the memories. Happy memories are to treasure.
