Watch List - January 2025

To qualify for my Watch List every month, the following has to be something that I've watched that's new to me. It doesn't necessarily have to be a current show, but it can't be reruns or rewatches of something I've already seen. So if I'm including it in this list, it means this month is the first time I've watched it. I'll put "DNF" (Did Not Finish) next to anything that I stopped watching and have no immediate plans to finish.

Movies

         *Bullet* 100% Wolf
         *Bullet* 200% Wolf
         *Bullet* Alien: Romulus
         *Bullet* Animal Crackers
         *Bullet* It Ends With Us
         *Bullet* Mufasa
         *Bullet* Stitch! The Movie
*Bullet* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
         *Bullet* That Christmas
         *Bullet* Uglies

I'm not sure I saw any movies that I would consider great this month. Alien: Romulus was a pretty good installment of the Aliens franchise, and Uglies wasn't bad for a post-apocalyptic teen movie based on a book. They other ones were not really anything worth mentioning, including Mufasa which my family really seemed to like but I thought was really slow and boring, and the other animated movies on the list were ones that I watched with the kids and didn't really impress. It was a much less successful month for features than it was for television.

Television

         *Bullet* A.P. Bio (Season 1) — DNF
         *Bullet* The Diplomat (Season 2)
*Bullet* English Teacher (Season 1) — DNF
*Bullet* Formula 1: Drive to Survive (Season 5)
*Bullet* Formula 1: Drive to Survive (Season 6)
*Bullet* The Night Agent (Season 2)
*Bullet* Selling the City (Season 1)
*Bullet* Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures (Season 1)
         *Bullet* Will Trent (Season 2)

Both A.P. Bio and English Teacher were disappointments after my wife started looking for other shows about teachers after the success of Abbott Elementary. These two series were recommended but neither one of them were really that funny or interesting. Selling the City was basically a new spinoff of Selling Sunset (trashy real estate reality TV), so it was fun to watch in the background, or at the end of a long day when I just wanted to decompress and not emotionally invest in anything. The polar opposite of that was the second season of The Diplomat, which is a very, very slow burn show about political intrigue. But just like the first season, the slowness built to a surprisingly dramatic finale.

The second season of The Night Agent has been eagerly anticipated, and while the season ended really well, the early half of the season felt a little convoluted and like it was just filling time until it got to the good stuff. Still, it would have probably been my favorite show that I watched this month... if I didn't still have two seasons of Formula 1: Drive to Survive to finish. I love that show, and now I'm officially caught up on all seasons (which take you up through the 2023 racing season). Assuming the release pattern continues, Season 7 covering the 2024 season will probably be released sometime in February or early March, so fans can watch it before the the 2025 season kicks off in mid-March. I'm excited to get caught up on all the happenings in 2024 so that I can go into the 2025 season all caught up on the history of the sport for the last several years.

TOP PICK:
Formula 1: Drive to Survive (Season 6)
