Anticipation
A faint touch of green upon the weary trees
A golden note of joy warbled on the breeze;
Such glad tidings fill my heart with happiness
Spring is coming soon, to clean the dreary mess!
No more winter's chill whispering gloom and doom
Now bright sunshine sparkles into tidied rooms.
I start preparing for days of work ahead;
My garden full of flowers needing to be fed.
I wait breathlessly for further signs of life—
Dueling dualities mirror inner strife.
As crocuses poke valiantly through snow
So I will focus on the future—live, learn, grow.
12 lines, 95 words.
AABB rhyme, 11 syllables per line.
