Friday's Child is Loving and Giving
Well, all right then. It's Friday, and it appears as if I've already abandoned my goal of writing here daily.
I have been writing, though. Old habits are hard to break. When a thought burst through the gray matter and a notebook was close at hand, I did write down those miscellaneous ideas and phrases. If I gathered all those thoughts and made them into something sensible, they might be equivalent to a couple of inspirational books. That, in the end, is my goal. (My favorite Bible verse comes to mind. Phil. 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Of course I can!)
Here's what I added to my portfolio this week. The first was an unexpected addition. Something I didn't plan to write. But the story needed to be told. Wendi, my friend, is the owner/publisher of our local weekly newspaper. Bless her heart. She has no newspaper staff; she is the entire staff - the salesperson, reporter, photographer, editor and publisher. Her husband helps distribute the newspaper. But for two years, except for a few times when she's had sales people for short periods of time, Wendi has published this paper alone. She has given so much to our local community. She prints the stories that the daily paper will not. She gives free advertising to so many. She suffers when large companies advertise, then inform her that they pay in 60 or 90 days because that's just the way they do things. Each week, as it comes time to print again and she's just not sure how she'll pay the printer's cost, God answers her prayers and the money appears. She's not getting rich, by any means. But she is doing what she feels God would have her do.
This week, she came up another way we can show the troops that we support them. "In Their Names." Basically, it's donating money or volunteering one's time or talent in the names of our men and women serving in the military. Here are the details:
So, that's where some of my writing time went - unexpectedly.
I also added to Jennifer's Story. I've had many requests for the rest of the story. I didn't complete the story. But I did add to it:
I haven't been as faithful to writing here each day. But I'll get the hang of it.
Monday's Child is fair of face;
Tuesday's Child is full of grace;
Wednesday's Child is full of woe;
Thursday's Child has far to go;
Friday's Child is loving and giving;
Saturday's Child works hard for a living.
But the Child born on the Sabbath Day
is blithe, and bonny, good and gay.
