ROE 1: Poem #1 - Jack-O-Lantern Sonnet
FORM: Petrarchan Sonnet
JACK-O-LANTERN SONNET
Halloween is quickly coming around,
The jack-o-lantern does eagerly wait;
For this October’s most important date,
When ghouls and ghosts and mischief abound.
He wears a witch’s hat proud like a crown,
Eager, flaming bright eyes staring out straight;
His carving meticulous and ornate,
Soon young trick-or-treaters will be inbound.
Autumn is now only mere weeks away,
And the excitement is now running high,
Jack rests anxiously, proudly on his perch;
To be admired and set on display,
In a few months, Jack will say his goodbye,
Eleven months ‘til the next pumpkin search
