Heart Healthy
Prompt: On December 3, 1967, the first successful heart transplant was performed. What suggestions do you have to keep your heart healthy? Give us a Pep Talk on what we should do to help our hearts stay healthy.

This is a good one. I have had three tests for my heart in the past twelve years. My Doctor says my blood pressure is high and he has sent me out for heart x-rays. They have all came back negative and I am at no risk for a heart attack. After adjusting my blood pressure medicine, my B/P is where it should be. Okay. So, my suggestions.

Always go to your Doctor for a check up. If you have symptoms of a heart attack, call 911. Get help. If the Doctor tells you, you have high B/P and high cholesterol, take the Meds. that he prescribes for this. If you smoke, stop. Get on the patch or fake cigarettes. Exercise thirty minutes a day. Change your diet. You will find menus on line or your Doctor can make suggestions. Over weight? Your Doctor has menus for this as well or get menus on line. Get heart x-rays done if the need be. Finding out your heart is healthy is the best feeling in the world. Cut down on salt. Use substitute salts. Use Garlic Salt. Use low fat butter and look for products that say heart healthy. I hate diets and taking Meds. but if we want to be around for awhile, we have to make some adjustments especially if your Doctor tells you that you are at risk for heart problems or already have a heart problem. I hope we all live healthy lives.
