Legacy
"30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" [13+]
Motivational Monday! Musician David Gilmour, born on this day in 1947, once said, "It's a very tempting thing to try and relive your glory days when you get a little older and you worry that people have forgotten all about you." In what way or ways does your writing preserve any kind of legacy?
I have no children so when I published three booklets of Dutch poetry years ago I was ecstatic. It felt as if I had given birth three times. Those three small volumes are my legacy to the world. They were in print (1000 per volume) and are out of print as far as I know, except for some last ones at some obscure websites. In fact, they are “currently unavailable” at Amazon.com. But they were there and a bunch of people has them somewhere on their bookshelf. Heck, they may even have read them!
I also published a few short stories and some small writes on Theoretical Psychology. Furthermore, some of my translated poems are on the website PoemHunter.com and some other sites.
When I die I hope that my family will contact this website so WdC will know that I have passed on and will add me to their white cases. That way some of my work will outlive me. I would like that!
