About This Author
I am a 40 year old married mother of two teenage boys. I live for writing, especially romance. Love the happily ever after scenerio. The best thing about writing for me is the ability to lose yourself in your work, and feel as if you've accomplished something great. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters.

What is possible?
Contest: "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge" by Arakun the twisted raccoon
Prompt: 1/7/2018 Use the words ribbons, strange, questions
I tried so hard to stop muttering throughout the house, to stop carrying on conversations aloud in front of my daughter. She always seemed to catch me at the most inopportune moments.
“Don’t you think it’s time to let go, mom?”
I turned from the counter to look at Sam, her vibrant brown eyes with golden flecks so full of questions as she waited. It amazed me that she still chose to wear those rainbow-colored ribbons that adorned her black ponytailed head, the ones he gave her so long ago. Yet I understand that deep need to feel close to her father.
“I know you think it’s strange that I still talk to him, but I imagine him here with us. If I close my eyes I can almost hear him. And sometimes, I can smell his cologne.”
Tears threatened to fill my eyes as I turned away from Sam and busied myself at the counter. It didn’t matter how many years ago he’d died, I just couldn’t seem to let him go.
“I thought you were the one spraying his cologne in the house,” Sam said.
A slight smile raised the corner of my mouth. “No. At least I know I’m not the only one who senses his presence.” I took comfort in that knowledge.
“Do you really think he hears you? I mean, could it be possible for him to be watching over us like that, knowing what we are doing?”
I’d wondered about it countless times myself, and I chose to believe it was possible. “Yes, I believe it’s possible. The universe is a mysterious place, filled with things that we cannot explain.”
“I like the idea of him being here if we need him like he’s not so far away.”
“Me too.”
