~ Missing Mommy ~
Mommy died one New Year's Eve.
As I whispered in her ear,
I quietly took my leave.
By the closing of that year,
She had passed on...

I admit, I am not a poet. Because of " The Contest Challenge"  , I wrote this poem for " Poetic Traditions Poetry Contest "  .
Even though it has been 5 years, I am still befuddled with grief at this time of year. This is the only subject that came to mind as I tried to write.
This poem does not pass my own read aloud test but there is a pattern of rhyme and each line has seven syllables. I think the hard and soft syllables don't land right for it to sound poetic but it is the best I can do today.
