Guten tag! My name is Jessica and I'm 19 years old. I obviously love to write; I have been writing since I was six years old, but I became an avid writer in sixth grade. I also love listening to music and studying history. I am obsessed with Civil War, World War II, Russian, Romanov, German, and Norweigan history. I listen to mostly metal, some country, and grunge.

Parting Gift
And last, but not least, our final (optional) prompt! In some past years, I’ve challenged you to write a poem of farewell for our thirtieth day, but this year, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem about something that returns. For, just as the swallows come back to Capistrano each year, NaPoWriMo and GloPoWriMo will ride again!
"Here's a parting gift before you go,"
as John and Jim hand me an Asbury Park pin.
I don't want to leave their home, no!
"Here's a parting gift before you go,"
rooms so tidy, Broadway posters glow,
I'm like their long lost daughter, come in!
"Here's a parting gift before you go,
"come again next year," as they hand me a pin.

as a message from John and Jim pops on screen.
It's the middle of February, my heart's set,
"are you looking at summer vacations yet?"
on Toronto to visit Michelle, where we met;
COVID-19 tells me nope, Asbury Park when it weens,
"are you looking at summer vacations yet,
great, can't wait to see you," pops on screen. |
