Being Old (Yama #1)
Third Place Round 71 The Yama Oriental Poetry Contest

Unless you've seen the years
pass by as if a day,
you may not comprehend
what I'm about to say.

Long lost abilities
compound my shroud of strife,
embarrassment, weakness,
the grogginess of life.

Deluded denial
becomes a proud sarong,
that hides the dire terms of
my premature swan song.

Wicked pointless puzzle
tell the tragic reason,
age steals vitality
from my senior season.

Shakespeare's wisdom rouses
my last discovery,
Soon, I'll learn the answer
to, "Be or not to be."
