About This Author
Writing poetry allows me to exercise my imagination and share it with others. I strive to write for the benefit of the reader using carnival fun mirror images of my life's experiences.
Haiku/Senryu
1. syllabic, written in 17 syllables or less.
2. usually written in 3 or fewer lines.
3. made up of 3 units, a concrete image, a parallel or expansion of the image, and a juxtaposed image that shows a moment of enlightenment .
4. written in focused, concrete images Haiku is the ultimate, Show don't tell. The art asks that you show the crystals in the snowflake.
5. articles such as, a, the, an, are used sparingly. They use up precious syllables unnecessarily. The same goes for adding ing at the end if a word. In such a small poem adding ing can produce an artificial urgency.
6. there is no ego in haiku, the enlightenment is drawn from the image, the poet is just the messenger.
7. untitled. Haiku are often #ed and dated rather than titled.
