About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write. Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Amber light warns of danger
As the ribbon stretches endlessly on
So safe and sure they move forward
Plodding and taking the same old road
Never veering, only steering
Travelling the straight and narrow coarse
Following the path paved by others
Never seeking an off road dance
How I long to speed, fast and carefree
Past all these plebian toads
Swerving and darting through the throngs
Excitement from the thrumming of life
Heard inside my head and heart
Taking risks and making chances
To find a new road, a hidden road
I want to travel that secret tract
Where only the brave may wander
Explore the world in wild abandon
Breaking through the status quo
Until all my energy has been spent
And I yeild to those who come next
