About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write. Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Prompt# 10. Write a poem about pillows in general or any one specific pillow.

Eiderdown Pillows

Grandma's bed was outfitted in Eiderdown
She made the bed ensemble of
Eiderdown mattress cover
Puffy quilt and lofty pillows

What does one do with duck feathers and down?
She would ask

Her bed frame consisted of an
Old cherry wood branches
So cleverly entwined,
Sturdy enough to hold kids
Bouncing around
In a pillow fight

Setting up house,
Longing for grandma's pillows
The cost was too great,
Foam chip pillows would suffice
Years rambled through the decades
An invite for lunch to a
Hutterite Colony was accepted

A purchase of Eiderdown Pillows
Handmade by Hutterite Ladies
Now grandma rests in heaven
And I am in heaven too
Dreaming upon my Hutterite
Eiderdown Pillows!
