33. Write a poem about a cashier. Determined to end the day getting a job, any job Signs in cafe windows were asking for help Waitresses, cooks, and cashiers needed Experienced need only reply Drats only experience she had was office related work As it was even office temp jobs were scarce Walking city block after block, her hopes disappearing Exasperated she enters a wee sandwich shop No help wanted sign hung on the window She was becoming weary and thirsty A middle aged woman, exclaims It's about time you got here Middle aged woman orders the young woman Down, down many flights of stairs to the basement Insisting she had ordered the right size What was she to do, but try on the uniform She looked like a waif in an outfit 3 sizes too big The older lady muttering , shaking her head This will have to do for now Young women reply's You have the wrong person No manpower agency sent me here Oh, drats the older women apologies In a split second she was asking the young women Would you mind helping out over the lunch hour Young women thinks how hard could this be Okay I'll work the busy lunch hour Days later, she is still working in the wee sandwich shop A cashier she is being trained to be It was near end of her shift, her feet wear sore Shifting from one foot to the other for relief She accidently tripped the middle aged women Whom went sailing in the air A week later young women is still cashiering Running the shop, middle aged woman is absent Middle aged women sends her a thank-you card Which read "Thank-you Deary for the good job you are doing I'm having a wonderful holiday On compo and won't be back for a good six weeks! Keep those girls busy till I get back!" Decora ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
