Hey Mary, I have the same issue..sort of. The book I am working on for NanoWrimo this year is the sequel to a book that I am also editing through a third draft at this current time. When it comes to the backstory items, I am either writing something totally new that can enhance both books (whether or not it is used in either book) or I am taking a scene from the first novel and perfecting it so it can be read as a stand alone story for this forum and/or other writing buddies. I'm not sure if either of those ideas would work for you, but I wanted to let you know that I can totally relate! David N.
