I think the most important thing is to approach this contest as a wonderful writing exercise and forget the contest component. If you are writing daily - you are a winner. If you are improving - you are a winner. If you are trying new genres, new styles - you got it - you are a winner. If you are spreading your wings, challenging yourself - then YOU are a winner.
