When action/confrontation reaches a crescendo, that would be a climax, all stories need not end there. Some end near there, like the detective story and the investigator's dramatic denouement, but even then there would a bit after the final accusation and leading away of the guilty person, where all loose ends are tied up, questions answered, lovers united or re-united, accolades given, etc. Some stories can have the climactic beginning and go on to back-story and finish off the action with explanations at the end. Mine begins with the confrontation, goes on to ambling back-story interspersed with continuing tension and and finishes with a happy resolution. How would you classify that? Or am I getting things wrong here? Just a beginner at writing, although I have been reading for a considerable time! Jyo |
