That depends on the subject. In some stories I can wing it, but if it involves something I know nothing about (like paragliding) I do as much research as I can. For this contest, I don't do much research, because I consider it part of the writing process and it would take much longer than 15 minutes.

The paragliding picture is so pretty, but I still haven't a clue what to write.
