For me, the prompt picture is the general inspiration of the story, but sometimes the story carries me out of the range of the picture, like maybe what might be going on just outside the frame. I don't necessarily stick to all the details of the picture. The surfer today might be an older man, a young kid, or even a girl! And sometimes a small detail in the picture catches my eye. One time it was an ankle bracelet on a girl waiting for a bus. I made it a tracking device placed there by an abusive husband. The surfer giving the "hang loose" sign with his hand seems to be wearing a ring on his little finger. I'm not sure how that will figure into the story yet, but anything can happen!
