The little man squinted as his threaded his needle. He had noticed that this woman was having a hard time keeping up with her mending, on top of all her many other duties, and took genuine pleasure in the secret help he could offer. She would pick up a garment from this pile one evening, and look for the work that needed doing to it, only to find it had already been done. He pictured the look of surprised that would be on her face, mixed with relief, and perhaps a little puzzlement. Ah well, she would have to stay puzzled. The little folk were allowed to help, or hinder, as much as they pleased, so long as no human ever discovered that magic was real. Too late, he heard approaching footsteps. What was she doing home at this hour? There was no time to escape, but luckily he had a back-up plan. The lid was lifted on the sewing box, then quickly slammed down again. He chuckled to himself as he heard the footsteps retreating. He knew he wouldn't be disturbed for the rest of that day, and maybe the next, too. Some day, he would have to thank his cousin for that spider-hat. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** (outa time, outa ideas, outa here!) ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Thanks to my sponsor, ember_rain |
