Rumpelstiltskin climbed out of the hole he'd dug once the queen found out his name. Having spent his nights spinning straw into gold and hid days dancing around his fire, his clothes were worn thin. Since he wouldn't be able to have a little child to call his own, he decided to at least get to work on clothes for himself. He grabbed a spider and squeezed it's body until he got a piece of webbing long enough to thread it into a needle. The spider fidgeted and tried to get away, but Rumpelstiltskin would need much of the spider's web, so he put it on his head to keep it from escaping. Unable to use its web to rappel down safely, the spider stayed where it was. In the morning, Rumpelstiltskin gave the spider a bit of mead to drink in thanks for the many miles of web-thread it gave him. Enough to fashion a new wardrobe for himself. Rumpelstiltskin set out for a new kingdom. There were more greedy kings and desperate maidens to be found. He heard there was a particularly greedy king called Midas in a warm country. Rumpelstiltskin smiled, petted the spider one last time, and went on his merry way. |
