Captain Burrows looked out the window of his submersible. It wasn't his first voyage into the sea, but this was different. This was the first time he'd been under water since the war started. He used to marvel at the underwater animals and love being near the reef. Little did he know, back in those calm, quiet days, that this very reef would prove to be the cause of controversy so large that it would ignite two nations into a war. Every since Doctor Leopold had made his discovery of an alternative fuel source coming directly from the reef, there had been trouble brewing. Both America and Mexico had laid claim to the reef. In years past, it may have been nothing for America to simply overrun the Mexican fleet… but that was then, and this was now. The captain knew they had a huge battle on their hands. He also knew that not all of them would live to see the benefit of the great reef. Burrows gave the order to surface once they were safely in American waters again. They had seen no Mexican activity around the reef, but that did not mean that the Mexican fleets were gone. He shook a chill from his neck as he pondered the calm before the storm.
