When he couldn't get to a piano, Ottohahn instead found inspiration and solace in the science focused museum. While some days schools from towns in the local area, most often the entire museum remained empty minus a few caretakers. He settled on the marine life wing, wandering the halls without any decided destination for almost an hour. Pausing at a small screen, he watched the peaceful scene. The display had an overall aquatic feel meant to look like under the ocean surface with the bottom portion a carpet of anemone. Within the tube-like things, little orange and white fish swam in and out, following a pattern as the scene had to have been set on repeat. Above the fish lurked a large turtle, unmoving. It floated in odd still motion and he watched. He couldn't keep his mind on the fun of the ocean displays, however. No matter how much Ottohahn tried to focus on thoughts of the ocean, he failed and soon his thoughts went instead to Clay. They hadn't spoken in several days, not since he'd said something stupid, and he yearned to take back his mistake. He hadn't meant what he'd said. When Clay had asked about his home and being in a bed together, he had thought it would be okay to joke that maybe Clay's whole purpose for sneaking into the city to visit him was to get in his pants. But it hadn't been funny and now he might never see him again. Moving to a different display, Ottohahn tried an interactive panel in the next room. His hand slipped in through the panels, feeling the strange squiggles of whatever had been used to make it feel like some fish swimming around through his fingers. Suddenly, something different hit his hand and he pulled it back at once. A familiar sound came from the other side of the display. He peeked around the display to find Clay there. "Hey you.Listen, I'm sorry I overreacted." Clay slid next to him, putting his arms around Ottohahn's shoulders for a moment. "I'm sorry too. I didn't mean what I said." Ottohahn stared at the ocean scene on the opposite wall, trying to find the right words to express his thoughts. "I umm, it's just I might kind of love you." Clay leaned forward and their lips touched briefly before he pulled away. "Well, in that case I might love you too." |
