JUNE 15-DOG “Didn’t he leave the key?” Derrick snapped at Theo as he dragged the fifth and final suitcase up the steep steps to the front door of the brownstone. “Tell me the lunk-head left the damn key!” “Yup. He left it.” Theo replied turning around to face his friend. “And the dog, the lovely dog we were to dog sit in exchange for the use of this wonderful abode,” he paused jerked a thumb back at the gray door. “Well Poochy is not friendly see?” He tipped up the toe of his left foot to show Derrick the now ruined penny loafer. “Oh come on! He said the damn thing was all lovable and cuddly. Move let me try.” Theo put the key in the lock and peered into the small peephole. Poochy didn’t look happy but he didn’t look like a man eater either. He started to turn the key and Poochy growled. “He said it was a Boston terrier aren’t they tiny? How’s he looking through the peephole?” Derrick asked looking over his shoulder at Theo who was trying to tuck the torn leather back in place. “Well?” Derrick shrugged “Don’t know Theo, maybe he pushed an armoire over to the door. All I know is that I am not sticking any more of my body parts in there. You want in it’s all you pal have at it. Ughh would you look at that! He even got the penny.” |
