Sarah felt the hard floor beneath while the hard counter pushed against her back. The air was hot and she could smell sweat in the air. Beads of sweat dripped down her face, but Sarah did not wipe it off. The small bank was a reminder of the past with faded black tile and dirty red walls. From the floor the counters seemed huge making Sarah wondered if this how children see the bank. The bank was not completely silent a young woman next to her was quietly sobbing. A young man kept shifting slightly a swishing noise as his pants moved. Sarah and six other patrons of the bank were forced to sit in front of the counters. The bank tellers were behind the counter both silent now. One had been making noise and that had been quickly stopped the crazy man had shot her a couple more times. The man wore all black the clothing looked like a strange military assemble. Sarah guessed that he was in his late thirties, but his dark green eyes darted quickly back and forth. In his clenched hands was some type of rifle that was never put down. The one day Sarah had not procrastinated going to the bank it gets taken over by a madman. Waiting in line the day perfectly normal and then he walked in and changed everything. He did not even demand money before opening fire on the two bank tellers behind the counter. The next part was to demand the customers to sit in front of the counters and now they watch him waiting for what he was going to do next. Sarah had never been this afraid in her whole life. The beating of her heart was like a drum and a feeling nausea came in waves. “Remember the forest.” A small voice spoke from inside and Sarah remembered the forest from her dreams. “See the forest.” The voice spoke again and Sarah closed her eyes. First she saw the trees growing in her mind becoming so tall and strong. The bark was dark brown and leaves sprouted a beautiful gem green leaves in the shape of tear drops. Moss sprouted up the bottom of the trunks growing and spreading like fire. Silver stones appeared on the ground along with tufts of grass. Inhaling the smell of earth and a sound of water as a small brook appeared in her vision. “What to do you hear Sarah?” The wind carried its own song along with the chirping birds. Leaves moved with the wind and the brook’s water babbled a slow melody. “What do you feel Sarah?” Reaching down the cool water tickled her hand. The stones were smooth and cold under her touch. This was her happy place and never had it seemed so real. A clicking noise echoed in the forest and for a moment Sarah was confused by the sound. This was not part of her vision the man had just cocked his gun. “Stay in the forest Sarah.” Sarah sat peacefully in the forest as the man began to fire his gun. |
