June 10 - Rails (late)
by A Non-Existent User
These are some lyrics for a song - chords at the end. Took about five times as long to transcribe as it did to write. (Verse 1) Roll up, roll up my reverie Count up, count up to ten, to ten Pull up, pull yourself up to me Show me what I must suspend (Chorus) Wear your red dress or your apron Dress up for a tropical clime My baby? No sir, you are mistaken She's my little waste of time (Verse 2) Come out, come out of the kitchen Cut it loose, set it to drift further in space My sinews stretch, my palms are itching Now let's drink to the look on your face (Chorus) The glint in your eye has been tainted Reddened and crusted with lime Me and you on the kalamazoo My little waste of time The flies and the rails and the desert Stretch out before as behind Me and beautiful you on the kalamazoo My little waste of time Little waste of time (Instrumental break to tune of verse & chorus, 32-ish bars) (Verse 4) India's looking in pity Sharper than the knife in my side, my side Old Jack Frost makes the sign of the cross As he shuffles with his pencils inside The room it is littered with portraits Of shadows and echoes and charlatans dear We melded then froze, then were shattered and scattered With a few plastic bags the sole sign we were here (Chorus) The glint in your eye has been tainted Reddened and crusted with lime Me and you on the kalamazoo My little waste of time The flies and the rails and the desert Stretch out before as behind Me and beautiful you on the kalamazoo My little waste of time Little waste of time (Repeat chorus if you feel like it, finish) 3/4 time, a bit of a swing to it, about 124bpm Verse chords: Amin, Gmaj, Fmaj, Emaj (bass notes on the down-beat) Chorus: Dmin (A), Cmaj (A), A♭maj (E), Amin Chords are probably dead wrong knowing my musical theory chops, but they're the basic shell of it. Add a plodding, ponderous bassline and some plinky-plonky electric piano noises and you're pretty much there. |
