Winning They say it’s not who wins that counts But how you play the game. As much as I enjoy the task, I like winning just the same. And in this recent Leger bout I’ve won a couple times, But in the general range of posts, He didn’t choose my rhymes Despite the loss, I persevered And to the time kept true. (Well, pretty much, though now and then I had to add a few.) Now that the contest’s finished up, I’d like to thank the host For prompting me to try to write When time was scarce the most. You coaxed me through the close of school, Since now the end is near, Though not the victor in this match I win ‘cause summer’s here! |
