win v be successful or victorious in a contest or conflict winner n a person or thing that wins something Note the distinction of "successful" and "victorious". To be victorious, one must have defeated an opponent, to be successful one must overcome a challenge. Success is not a question of being better than everyone else, it is about being better than you thought you could be. Success is not the same as victory, and it is possible to have one without the other. This has led to confusion in many when stating their goals. Lots of people want to be "a winner", but too many think that this means there has to be losers. There has to be a podium for the best, from which the winner can stand over those who lost out. These people want to be victors, triumphant over others. Success is a quieter ambition. It demands, not that others fail, but only that you reach your own goal. Success is not diminished when it is shared, rather it is enhanced. True success is about making as many winners as possible. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** (outa time, outa ideas, outa here!) ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Thanks to my sponsor, ember_rain |
