What's your Nano about?
Working title: Sand Cats

My idea came from a dream. Pretty much all of it.

All though my main character is a young girl, I don't feel this is a YA, since there is one aspect of conflict which I don't think lends it's self to YA, that being adults wanting to sleep with under-age boys and girls. I don't think it will happen, but it some of the conflict in the story.

It's a soft sf, although I am doing a lot of research on sand, rocks, flora, fauna, and the Aborigine culture. It's soft because I want the science to basically there, but I not going to allow it be the number one factor of what goes and what stays. Lots tweaking, to give things my own spin- well, that's the plan.

I want there to be sharp contrasts between the city and the dunes.

I tend to write in a literary style and this will be told in a third-person, omniscient, POV.

Synopsis: Kaylee lived on the dirty streets of Hong Hou stealing and on the verge of much worse. A handsome off-world miner, Ed, takes her home, where she meets his partners and his son, Fairfax, and offered the position of keeper of the house. The house is In the sandy dunes, where many creatures live, but the most interesting, and bothersome, are the sand cats; the bane of miner's, always breaking-in, always stealing, always breaking things. Left alone for months on end, Kaylee thrives in the compound, their home, where she dreams of life shared with Ed, but she must put up with the taunts of Fairfax, and the unwanted desires of Heath. In the Singing Sand, Kaylee finds freedom and the beauty of nature, and friendship with mystical sand cats. The miners want the sand cats gone, dead. As the battle erupts, Kaylee makes her choice... freedom.
