Problems subplot?
I've been taking notes of things I'd like to do in my novel.

Something I've never handled is a subplot. I want one. I need one. Otherwise I have guys in the front of the story who don't show up till the end, and then who is going to care about them. As much as I love settings and descriptions, and plot is king, BUT, characters are what you care about.

Part of me thinks what I should do is three outlines, one for the main plot and then one for subplot and then weave the two together. So the plan is to write as much as I can on the main plots outline. Do that all the way through.

Step two find the relationships and histories of the supporting characters. They two must change from where they start to where they end.

I picked up a copy of Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell. So far I haven't read anything about subplots, but I am not very far.

Is anyone else tackling subplots? If so what are you doing?
