I usually put everything in a book item myself, with headings labeled according to what date in the prep it is and what the title of the assignment is. Of course, I always keep a copy of everything in one file on my computer, too, and once I get started on actually writing I'm much more likely to refer to it than the online version.

Of course, the advantage of putting your contest items into static items is the ease of linking them with bitem in the forum. I don't know about you, but I tend to forget the code to link individual book entries for some reason. So, really, a hybrid of both may be best for anyone doing the Prep for the first time.
