You may also try to think up comparable works, and then work backwards. Query letters also try to include comparable works, so you'll be ahead of the game if you can think up your examples in advance.

The only advice they give is do not pick the current popular books - it's a cross between 50 Shades of Grey, the Hunger Games, Twilight, and Harry Potter. (Two books/series are fine, shopping list may confuse)

I don't always agree completely with the categories, but Amazon also tags books - way down on the bottom of the page. That might help you pick up some key words.
