You're misunderstanding, or perhaps did not read, the point Storm and I made earlier. Just because a review is on the public review page, that doesn't mean it is public to everyone. Only members who have permission to see said item will be able to see the review for it on the public review page. Your work is not being exposed to anyone without your permission.

WDC gives members the best control over their own work that I have ever seen from any writing site, and we are lucky that we have so many options as writers for protecting who sees our work.

The issue of whether the author or the reviewer should have control over who sees a review has been talked about, and explained by, SM in numerous support forums. I recommend that you search for one of those posts and/or post in the Non-Tech Support forum to ask SM yourself.
