Hello Athalia, We all experience difficulties in writing. That's the name of the game. Nobody ever wakes up and says, you know what? I'm gonna figure out my whole novel today. The brainstorming process is a long one, and it requires a lot of checking, rechecking, and rerechecking of how your book is going to go. If your conflict is broad, I don't see any problems with that. Perhaps broad spectrums cover broad interests. I like to take a broad approach to things, and it works well for me. Time management is always difficult for anyone. I am on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. When I'm not working 12 hours, appeasing the mother of my unborn child (for those who are hoping to concieve I can say that there's no rage like that of a pregnant woman) or managing my groups and deadlines, I'm cooking dinner, or shopping. It's always difficult, that's why this prep challenge exists. It gives us discipline to better ourselves as writers, through taking 15 minutes out of our day to write. If your 15 minutes is spent staring at a blank computer screen, there's nothing wrong with that. Novels aren't written in a day. I believe you have what it takes. I read your blog, and in your most recent post, you asked why you aren't inspired to write. I have an answer. You apparently were inspired to write, as you wrote that whole post. Lack of inspiration WAS your inspiration. Requiring help is fine, and asking for it is admirable. I'd be more than willing to help you overcome your lack of inspiration. Just give me some basic details of what it is that you seem to be stumbling with. We're all here to help and we're glad you reached out to ask for it. You can do this Athalia! J. M. Kraynak of "Newby Novelists" A group for our newest aspiring novelists! "Apostasy: The Book of Ithaca" A tale of prophecy, betrayal, faith, and the battle between mortals and demons. "Invalid Item" Send me a personal review request and I'll be happy to oblige! |
