Outline Reference
It took me forever to find this. Learned it at a Con, but they explained it better, of course I can't find those directions. It is a grid (which probably explains one reason it appeals to the nerd in me). Good for keeping subplots in order, too, and the second link shows how J K Rowling used it in one of her Potter books, Order of the Phoenix, I think.
