Interesting things to think about. I often use colour symbolically but subtly, but I think I tend to use light and shadow that way more. Sidebar; I wrote a University paper on Hawthorne's symbolic use of colour in The Scarlet Letter, so I do tend to be aware of the use of colour. Subscribe and read Shadows Express.
